Wicked Righteous
This is how I see righteousness. Righteousness is a dirty job that we all have to do. We realize that it is being done by others and others expect that we are doing it as well. However just because we all do it there is no need to at every opportunity to tell others that you are doing it. How you do it and how you view yourself for doing it is your little secret. Mine just happens to be a tad more fun…
By Accident On Purpose
So in the twilight hours this occurred to me. If you believe that God, it does not matter which one, created the heavens and the earth all of which adhere to very definitive laws of physics and mathematics, some of these laws we are still just learning about, why would God be so vague in detailing his standards for worship and in the details about the origins of our lives?
Does this make sense? When a child asks a parent, “Where did I come from?” are we not thrilled to explain how he or she came to be? Granted we may leave out the details of the passion that actually brought them into existence but apart from that most parents take pride in explaining the process to their children. When we create anything, regardless of its significance to others, do we not like to receive and take full credit for our efforts? Typically if the monetary aspect is removed from our creative processes we are more than willing to share the details of our efforts with others. Here I wish to emphasize that the details would include the various disciplines that we had to have a knowledge of in order to render the final result. Incorporated into those disciplines would be the laws that govern each process or step that was necessary to bring to life our creation.
This just makes me think that there is something missing in what folks are clinging to in order to give them hope. Hope is good but blind allegiance is not. Vagueness is not an answer and it never will be. Especially when vagueness goes contrary to the very laws that hold the entire universe together. Just from our limited knowledge of our immediate world and the world that extends beyond it we realize that vagueness is not part of the equation.
Tenets of Humanity
I have been thinking quite a bit lately about the ill affects that religion has had on mankind. For all of the good that is supposed to do it sure has not made the world a better place. I guess that is what happens when the blind are leading the blind.
Really come now, it seems just about anyone cam claim to be inspired by some deity and get people to follow some course of life that this deity has mandated. Whoa that is totally impressive! Like landing a sweet 1o80 off of a really high jump! Come on people wake up and smell the coffee. The only thing religion has been successful at is alienating the inhabitants of this planet and bilking them out of billions of dollars.
This brings me to my first point.
- Why does god need your money? If god created all things (pick a god I don’t care which one) does he really need 10% of your wages? Can not a real god just put into place the things he wants in place? If it were me I know I would. Maybe thats why I have not been promoted to “god” yet.
OK so now that we have established that god is poor and lacks ample liquid assets to do the things he needs to get done and refinancing his home is out of the question in todays market, we have to ask ourselves why do we need some many gods and cant they have a board meeting to decide who is running things?
2. Which god is the god that determines who is going to when a sporting event? Which god is in charge of music awards? Is it the same god that causes success for some and failure for others? How do you differentiate between them?
Do you see my dilemma here? I m not sure who is in charge and find the entire process of getting some one in customer service to return my calls a bit frustrating. I may have to call the BBB and file a complaint. I wish these athletes, musicians, singers and other members of the PTL would tell me which god they are thanking and how I can get on the bandwagon. To be honest I don’t think god recognizes talent. He must have been busy soliciting donations when some of these folks slipped by to claim these “wonderful blessings”. I think god needs to take some of that money he got from us and put in a security system. You know some cameras like they have on the highways. This way we can watch the feeds on youTube and alert him when a shmuck is about to hit it big.
As a shareholder in humanity I think we need to call an emergency shareholders meeting. I do not like the direction this organization has taken lately. I think it is time for us to declare a mission statement and some bylaws that are beneficial to everyone. Drop the 10 commandments, throw out the Torah, tell Buddah, Vishnu and Mohammad to smoke a doobie. They are not human so they do not know what it is like to live as we do. Besides has anyone seen these folks? Bet your bottom dollar if I am a deity you are gonna see me. I am going to be damned sure that you know who I am. No vagueness, no mystery and no smoke and mirrors. “Heeeeeeeeeres MoodaHocka!”
I think fundamentally there could be a globally accepted Tenets of Humanity. Not! There I go being idealistic again. We can not even get folks to agree on how to preserve the resources of the planet which is a problem with very tangible facets. How are going to ask them to set aside their religious differences to come to an accord on a universal way of thinking about others outside of their belief system?
We are doomed.
Divide and Conquer

For some reason this week religion is on my mind quite a bit. So undaunted I will address it and all of its ugly children. First off I put forth that religion is unnecessary. Why? As always lets define it. The Oxford dictionary categorizes religion in its definition as theistic and non-theistic.
(theistic): “1 the belief in a superhuman controlling power, esp. in a personal God or gods entitled to obedience and worship. 2 the expression of this in worship. 3 a particular system of faith and worship.” Non-Theistic definition: “The word religion has many definitions, all of which can embrace sacred lore and wisdom and knowledge of God or gods, souls and spirits. Religion deals with the spirit in relation to itself, the universe and other life. Essentially, religion is belief in spiritual beings. As it relates to the world, religion is a system of beliefs and practices by means of which a group of people struggles with the ultimate problems of human life.” (Hubbard, 1994)
In a departure from past I will enumerate my argument using bullets. Hopefully this will quickly bring to the forefront the key points that I would like to stand out.
Religion is not necessary because:
- Religion and spirituality are not synonymous. We can be spiritual beings without the structure of religion.
- Religion is not required to teach morality. Religion is nothing more than a tool of enforcement for what a group has deemed to be appropriate morality.
- Religion is inherently divisive. Since it sets itself up as an institution and a source of leadership religions will always fail to unite all of the people under a common belief system.
- The interpretations are not concrete. Much like art religious dogma can be subjective and have various meanings and interpretations depending on the observers mindset, needs and desires.
- Religion can only succeed if it is administered by the deity that is being worshiped. Mankind lacks the objectivity that is needed to properly govern others. Hence religion is not required when all aspects of the human existence are being directly controlled via a theocracy, thereby eliminating all religions in favor of just living and worshiping the deity as a way of life.
I think that covers everything. What do you think?
